About Us

Hale i Lani at Hanalei Bay Resort is hosted by Doreen & Garrett, a husband-and-wife team who fell in love with Kauaʻi’s North Shore and wanted to create a vacation experience that reflects the island’s natural beauty, comfort, and aloha spirit. 

We named the property Hale i Lani, which means “home in heaven,” because that’s exactly how it felt the first time we stood on the lanai and looked out over Hanalei Bay with the waterfalls cascading down the surrounding mountains. Our hope is that every guest who stays here feels that same sense of wonder, peace, and connection to the spirit of this place.

As your hosts, we’ve created Hale i Lani as a place to relax, reconnect, and fully experience the beauty and spirit of the island. From sunrise coffee on the lanai to sunset strolls down to Pu‘u Poa Beach, everything here is designed with the goal of creating a memorable vacation experience for our guests. Whether you’re here for a romantic getaway, a multi-generational family trip, or a long-overdue gathering with friends, we invite you to make yourself at home in our little slice of paradise.

In the spirit of mālama — which means to care for, protect, and preserve the land, people, and spirit of Hawaiʻi — we donate a portion of the revenue from every stay to local nonprofits that support Kauaʻi’s environment and community, so booking a stay at Hale i Lani also means giving back to the island and its people.
